Research Data Management

Zenodo

Zenodo is a free general-purpose repository, originally developed under the European OpenAIRE program and operated by CERN. You can publish your data easily and get a persistent identifier (DOI) for your dataset. You can also publish other content types such as posters, presentations and software and curate your own community.

Signing in

Uploading datasets

  • Select Upload from the top menu
  • Click New Upload
  • Drag and drop your files or click Choose files. The maximum size per dataset is 50 GB
  • If you want to post your upload into a community, type the community name. Your upload will be checked by the community manager
  • Choose the upload type (Dataset)
  • If your dataset doesn’t have a DOI yet, create one by clicking Reserve DOI. This is highly recommended because DOIs are persistent identifiers and they allow others to easily cite your work

  • Choose the Access Rights from the following options:
  1. Open Access: anyone can access the dataset immediately
  2. Embargoed Access: anyone can access the dataset after a specified embargo date
  3. Restricted Access: you can grant access to the dataset on request
  4. Closed Access: only you can access the dataset
  • If you choose Open Access, you also need to choose a Creative Commons license. Read more about CC licenses here
  • Add additional information
  • Click Publish to publish your dataset immediately or Save to save your dataset for later editing
