  • ZU Scholars (https://zuscholars.zu.ac.ae) is an institutional repository which contains works published at Zayed University.
  • SelectedWorks (https://works.bepress.com) is a profile service where you can showcase all of your research and teaching information in one place. You can also add content published outside Zayed University. You can continue to use the profile even if you move to another organization.

Do I need to add works to both ZU Scholars and SelectedWorks?

  • If you have published works at Zayed University, you only need to add them to ZU Scholars. The library will import them to your SelectedWorks profile.
  • If you want to add works published outside Zayed University, you can only add them to SelectedWorks.

How do I maintain my SelectedWorks profile?

See SelectedWorks Guide for Authors at Bepress.com.

I already have a ResearchGate and/or Academia.edu account. Why should I use ZU Scholars?

Academic social networks such as ResearchGate and Academia.edu are not open access repositories and they may not be available forever. They also encourage you to upload full text files of publisher's versions which could lead to a copyright infringement if you don't follow the publisher's open access policies. ZU Scholars has many benefits over these services:

ZU Scholars...

  • Is fully supported and maintained by the Library
  • Showcases researchers, colleges and the entire university. All institutional research can be found in one place
  • Is open, stable, permanent and library-curated. The Library checks all content before it's made publicly available
  • Is part of a larger Digital Commons Network which brings together works from hundreds of universities and colleges worldwide
  • Enables you to track usage and impact of your works (e.g., downloads, citations, altmetrics)
  • Has excellent search engine visibility
