Artificial Intelligence

Welcome to this Zayed University Library guide, designed to assist you on your path through the realm of Artificial Intelligence.

MLA

Below are the elements you need to consider when developing an MLA citations for AI tools. Below are the MLA's template for core elements to be used in creating a list of works-cited and advise from MLA on how to address these in your works-cited-list.

  1. Author: MLA does not recommend treating AI tools as author. Their recommendation is the same approach developed by many publishers. Accordingly, the author will not be used.
  2. Title of Source: Describe what was generated by the AI tool. This may involve including information used in the prompt in the Title of Source element if you have not done so in the text.
  3. Title of Container: Use the Title of Container element to name the AI tool (e.g., ChatGPT).
  4. Version: Name the version of the AI tool as specifically as possible. For example, the examples in this post were developed using ChatGPT 3.5, which assigns a specific date to the version, so the Version element shows this version date.
  5. Publisher: Name the company that made the tool.
  6. Date: Give the date the content was generated.
  7. Location: Depending on the AI tool you are using, you may give either a general URL or a specific URL that allows you to share your specific query and the generated item.
