Requirements for the research

Your report should use between 12 and 15 secondary resources including

news sources (e.g., The National),

government statistics sites, Euromonitor stats.

academic journals (minimum of 4)

Plastic Surgery, Journal of Consumer Research, Journal of Marketing Research), and reports from the Euromonitor database...

Format for the report

Should take the following format:

Title Page Abstract (5 marks)

• The abstract text should not exceed 150 words

Introduction (5 marks)

• Briefly introduce the topic area and the impacted industries (i.e., day clinic, aesthetic clinics, hospitals etc.)

Consider including any statistics you can find about the size of the market, or anything else that conveys the importance of the industry and of the topic.

Statement of the research problem (15 marks)

Use the five-step process studied in class on a draft. In the report, write a paragraph whereby you state the research problem and research objectives.

Analysis of existing research (20 marks)

  • Motivation factors, self-esteem, media consumption, life satisfaction, evaluation of attractiveness Definitions of important constructs related to your research question.

  • What are the factors that motivate people to undergo cosmetic surgery? (see Furnham and Levitas, 2012)

  • Cosmetic surgery industry in the U.A.E.

  • Structure according your research objectives and what stems from what you read.

    Methodology (15 marks)

    • Describe the research design.

    • Describe the sample and explain the sampling method.

    • Describe the data collection procedure.

    • Describe the interview guide.

    • Explain in detail how the data was coded to obtain the results.

      Findings (15 marks)

Report the findings of your qualitative analysis following the guidelines outlined in class.

Conclusions and Recommendations (10 marks)

  • Based on your findings, conclude by succinctly answering the research objectives.

  • Provide recommendations for both businesses and public policies.

  • Outline the limitations of the findings (e.g., sample size, sampling approach and the weaknesses of

    your research specifically and qualitative research in general).

Appendix (5 marks)

Include the transcripts of the interviews.
