What is Sustainability?

Sustainability is a complex concept that evolved overtime. The United Nation Brundtland Commission in 1987, defined Sustainability as “meeting the needs of the present without compromising the ability of future generations to meet their own needs.”  (United Nations, n.d.)

The Brundtland Report, also known as "Our Common Future," published by the World Commission on Environment and Development (WCED), introduced the idea of sustainable development and outlined methods for its attainment.
