Citation Style - APA

About Citing Audiovisual Media

For each type of source in this guide, both the general format and an example will be provided.

Information on citing and several of the examples were drawn from the Publication Manual of the American Psychological Association (6th ed.).

Numbers in brackets refer to specific pages in the manual.

Online Video (like YouTube videos, p. 215)

Please note that there is no use of italics when citing Youtube or other online videos.

General Format 
 
Author Surname, First Initial. Second Initial. OR Author screen name. (Year, Month
Day {of video post}). Title of video [Video file]. Youtube. URL of
specific video

Motion Picture/Video Recording (p. 209)

Film you watch in a movie theater or in class = Use [Motion picture]
Film on DVD = Use [DVD]
Film on VHS = Use [Videotape]

General Format 
 
Name of producer (Producer) and/or name of director (Director). (Year).  
Title of movie [Format e.g. Motion picture or DVD]. Country where
movie was produced: Name of Studio or Publisher.
